RONDJE NOORDEILAND	>> On Sunday, July 26th, we swim for the second time in history around the Noordereiland in the city center of Rotterdam to celebrate the most successful ecological venture of the European Union.

apply \| become sponsor	ENVIRONMENT The Meuse (the name of the river that flows around the island) has become more pristine in last thirty years due to joint efforts of European citizens, politicians, scientists, entrepreneurs, journalists, etc along this 1000 km long river. Europese Union In 30 years the river has been revitalized with the benefit of native fish like the burbot and the catfish returning to this area that they once inhabited. Even the salmon is back swimming hundreds of km upstream towards their spawning grounds in the Netherlands, Belgium and France, nowadays. Economie and recreation Almost 4 million people in France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands depend on the Meuse for their daily water need The cost to clean the river water had been decreased rapidly. Furthermore, people nowadays swim, fish and travel all over the Meuse and on many place beaches, parks and fishingspot appear along this 1.000 km long route. The river is alive.
